Disadvantages and countermeasures in the process of electroplating chrome

In the process of electroplating chrome processing, the choice of its plating solution is quite entangled. Because hexavalent chromium is relatively toxic and has serious pollution to the environment, it has been strictly controlled in industrial production. Therefore, trivalent chromium often appears in the chrome plating process, but the quality and performance of the coating will decrease. Can it be improved?

Compared with the original hexavalent chromium chrome plating process, trivalent chromium chrome plating has a reduced toxicity, but its process performance also decreases. The main performance is that the plating hardness and appearance of the electroplated chrome processing are not ideal; at the same time, it is difficult to obtain a very thick coating; and the stability of the plating solution is also poor, and it is difficult to maintain.

Even if hexavalent chromium is used for chrome plating, a certain amount of trivalent chromium is required. However, in fact, trivalent chromium does not have a special trivalent chromium salt added to the plating solution when chrome plating is provided, but is generated by electrolysis. of. Electrolytic generation requires a certain amount of electrolysis time, and the amount of production is difficult to control while consuming electrical energy.

In order to improve these properties, various additives are needed. The trivalent chromium plating additive commonly used in the electroplating process has a stabilizer, such as a reducing agent for reducing hexavalent chromium, formaldehyde, glyoxal, sodium sulfite, and the like. Rare earth additives or variable valence compounds are also useful to reduce the hexavalent chromium produced in the plating solution to maintain the stability of the plating solution.

It can be seen that in the chromium plating process, whether it is the formation of trivalent chromium or the trivalent chromium additive or even the trivalent chromium itself, it contains chemical elements harmful to the human body and the environment. Therefore, under the premise of ensuring the quality of the finished product, it is possible to choose a process that is both environmentally friendly and cost-effective - an environmentally friendly alloy catalytic fluid technology.

This technology not only conforms to the environmental protection law, the hardness is above 550HV, and it can reach 1200HV after proper heat treatment, and the cost is much lower than other similar technologies, which is worthy of promotion.
